I went out with a work buddy to check out Best Buy during our lunch hour… I have a $100 gift card that was given me and it’s “burning a hole” in my pocket. I wanted to go in there and look around and scope out what I might want and what I might need to save up for.

The trouble is, as much as I like electonics and tech stuff, I’m not a fan of Best Buy. I usually go in and find that the customer service is mediocre, with a few exceptions now and again. And if I have a return or exchange to make, their service becomes less than reasonable. I’ve had my share of… shall we say… “difficult” interactions with some Best Buy employees… even on the phone with their customer service reps for their online business! Plus, their prices aren’t all that great, especially when I can order many of the same products online for less.

Anywho… I dunno what I’d like to buy, although I have a few ideas:

• I need a new mouse — the one I use at home for the desktop does not track well enough for the graphics I do.
• I’d love to buy a pair of wireless headphones (two if possible) — this is so I don’t disturb my wife at night when I’m watching football (in bed?).
• A new printer for the study — the one we have is old and quite large compared to what is available nowadays… also, we have a newer Epson — maybe buy another Epson so we minimize on ink cartridge costs?
• get a new digital camera
• buy an iPod
• or maybe I should just use it to buy supplies as needed (CD-Rs, DVD-Rs, paper, cables, etc.)

After Bust Buy, we went next door to Starbuck’s for a drink. He ordered a regular latte and I ordered a Chai Tea latte.

I took a sip as we started walking out… and it was not hot. It was warm-hot…not hot-hot. I could have downed the drink right then because it was not hot enough. I like my hot drinks hot-hot. So, I walked back in and explained my woe. I got me a hot-hot drink and they gave me a coupon for any Starbuck’s beverage!

I’m gonna complain more often… sike!

My buddy mentioned to me that his drink was also not hot-hot. But he was okay with that because he doesn’t like (can’t handle) hot-hot.

Free stuff is nice! Do any of you have any “getting free stuff” stories?
