countdown: 7… 6… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… 0
I ain’t got much to say. Too much to do in the too little time to do it all. As of this post — 9:14pm — we’re still mostly not packed, my parents are still here as my Dad is still prepping stuff for us to “deliver” over to his family, my sister, her husband, and my mom are playing hide-and-seek with the kid.
We voted today and got some errands taken care of. An intended sushi lunch turned into McDonalds (I still had my fish — Filet-o-fish that is!). We had a minor stress-induced tiff.
Still, all-in-all, it’s been a good day! Susanna has been really good today and the excitement for tomorrow’s adventure is certainly mounting!
… break …
OK… so now it’s 9:52p… just got the “briefing” from my pops about who to meet and what gift to give that person. Lots of people and lots of gifts. I’m not very comfortable with all of it, but I understand the “burden” of responsibility as the “ambassador” of my Dad — lots of family and friends to pay respects to. I feel so ill-equipped to handle the tasks at hand, especially with the language barrier — for all intents and purposes, I can’t speak Korean (boo on me).
Putting the kid down was a chore an now Ash is a bit perturbed with the added responsibilities and lost time to finish up the packing and other stuff. I can certainly empathize with her as I feel much the same way. I love my Dad and am glad to help him out, but it’s not an easy chore for me. I’ll muddle through and feel inept all the while and it’ll all be fine in the end. But it’s something I’d rather not have to muddle through in the first place.
So, now we will finish packing and slump into bed hoping that we’ll be well rested for the crazy-long flight and adventure that lies before us.
Good night.
